Charleston Area Neighborhoods

Each Charleston area neighborhood and community in the Lowcountry is unique in itself for various reasons and there are many new and established residential developments and neighborhoods in all price ranges. It is impossible for me to list the hundreds of neighborhoods and sub-divisions so I will review my favorites and some of the more popular. If the development makes my list it is decent and of fair value. I try not to present or promote anything unless it offers fair value to the consumer. As a consumer advocate and dedicated buyer agent I advise all my clients on their best interest concerning purchases.

PARK WEST: Located in Mt Pleasant in what we call the East Cooper area. Park West is one of my favorites. This 1,700-acre, Lowcountry retreat calls you to make your home where your heart is. Lying only minutes from the ocean, bounded by five-and-a-half miles of riverfront, deep-water tidal creeks and other grand amenities, Park West looks like a sophisticated resort. But it's much more than that, it's a place you and your family can call home. Over a dozen unique neighborhoods populate the Park West community. New homes and resale's ranging in price from $220,000 to over $2,000,000 and waterfront, marsh view and wooded home sites from $75,000 to over $800,000.

Each Park West neighborhood has its own special character, architectural style and price range. Several approved builders are available to work with you to choose the perfect lot and house plan. Or, you can elect to see an existing resale or spec home and move in immediately. You'll be charmed by Park West's friendly neighborhoods, traditional Lowcountry styles and scrupulous attention to details. Exacting standards strictly controls development. Nothing has been left to chance, from an on-staff environmentalist who helps preserve and protect nature, to the architects, landscapers and designers dedicated to keeping Park West a community of incomparable beauty. Check out these active listings and call me (843-224-3883) for additional info or to view any of interest: Park West (Under $300k) or Park West (Over $300k)

DUNE WEST: This is a magnificent tract of Lowcountry land, and a refreshing site to residents returning home at the end of the day. It is a place of majestic oaks, vast strands of pine, and lush groves of palms and palmettos ... with its views of the tranquil Wando River, and creeks that wind lazily through the area, while shorebirds search the shallows for their dinner ... it is the unique springtime smells of jasmine and honeysuckle, and autumn sounds of leaves crackling underfoot.

Dunes West is a place where neighbors know each other by name, and share common interests ... an old-fashioned neighborhood that just feels good to come home to. For many residents, the best part of life in Dunes West is the simple pleasures it offers, it is a place of long strolls in the cool of the morning or an exhilarating round of golf to a bridge party with neighbors or a cookout with family while enjoying the marsh views or the vast open spaces. Whatever your idea of life, you'll find it at Dunes West. It is the perfect place to call home, for you and for your family for a lifetime.

Carnes A planned new development located at Carnes Cross Roads (Hwy. 176 and 17A) in the City of Goose Creek. Carnes is a 2300 acre planned lifestyle community to be developed by the Daniel Island Company. Plans also include a school. Sloan stated that this development will stand out by our increased investment with parks and lifestyles. It will be a walk-able, intimate place to live with great architecture. The 15 year plan will start with commercial sales as the economy improves. Broker Opinion: I'm excited about this one. I have viewed a Carnes Crossroads presentation and believe this is the best possible use for this key piece of real estate. My stated "wagon wheel" theory of 27+ years ago projected this major hot spot. I'm just pleased that it is the Daniel Island Company doing the development.
